Home › Forums › Help/Technical Questions › Small Clone IC best for Nirvana tone
Hi Everyone,
I’m a newbie to the forums. I have a question regarding the Clone that Kurt Cobain used. I’ve read in multiple forums that to really get that chorus tone right you either need a vintage Small Clone or the IC that a vintage Small Clone has. I really want to buy a Small Clone, but the vintage pedals are pretty expensive. I saw one on ebay for about $300. I’m pretty handy with a soldering iron. So I was wondering what the IC is on those vintage pedals. I heard its something like a MN3007 or MN3700 not sure which one is correct. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
The earliest units used SAD1024A delay ICs. After about 1980 or so they went to MN3007.
Which the big box re-issues also used so you don’t have to buy vintage.
