loverley chorus. only problem is that it needs a blend knob IMO as it can become a bit overwhelming. stereo would be nice too.
December 2, 2008 at 6:05 pm #88007julianModeratorHave you tried the clone theory? No blend knob, but it is a bit less intense sounding IMO and it has stereo.

As I only had one dirt pedal and the Small Clone, it took all modulation duties, and I must say it did it bravely. It’s amazing what you can do with just one knob and a depth switch. Warbly, lush, deep… I used it in like 80% of my band’s songs, every time I wanted to add some depth or craziness to it. I freaking love this pedal. Of course nowadays it’s got 5 knobs and whatnot, but I almost always use it just as I used it before.
December 11, 2008 at 2:58 pm #88946electro-melxModeratorIt’s the nicest chorus I’ve ever had I gotta admit………..until the XO polychorus comes along maybe.
December 20, 2008 at 8:06 am #89275companymanParticipantIs this XO Polychorus that you speak of an urban myth or is it in the works ? Please oh please let it be so !
December 20, 2008 at 8:27 am #89276julianModeratorit’s just an assumption really
since everything else is getting XO’dDecember 20, 2008 at 9:45 am #89279Ned FlandersModeratorThe polychorsu is no where near as lush and deep a chorus as the small clone, if you buy one for its chorus you will be disapointed but if you buy one for its chorus/flange/weird ass noises you’ll be pleased. IMO, you MUST own both!

IMO, you MUST own both!I haven’t had any problems at all getting great chorus sounds out of my polychorus. Personally, I think the flanging on the Polychorus is super weak. As for weird sounds, it can make those excellently. I find I can’t even turn most of the knobs more than 1/4 of the way before it becomes too crazy to be used tastefully. Great GREAT pedal…that I got for 50 bucks
December 22, 2008 at 10:41 am #89457nneekolasParticipantI got a Small Clone for $40 at a used music shop that replaced a $300 piece of “boutique” junk. It’s from the mid to late 90’s I believe, but it was plenty used. I had to use a white marker to draw a line back on the knob, it was totally worn away. It does a warbly, vibrato sound and a simple chorus sound better than the expensive pedal. I play bass and I like that it seems to add a little high-end chime to the sound when the knob is at about ten o’clock and the depth knob is up. When I run the SC into a Boss RE-20 Space Echo I can still hear the chime cutting through the echo/reverb; very cool!

I think the SC is an awesome chorus. I went from a CH-1 to this. Not as versatile, but a big improvement in the tone department.
December 23, 2008 at 10:58 am #89538Dr. MattModeratorSmall clone is my chorus of choice – it’s what turned me onto EHX in the first place. I remember going into the shop i get all my gear from looking for a chorus pedal for a specific sound which was a lush, shimmering, heavenly chiming sort of sound, and if it wasn’t for the fact i’d spotted the small clone hidden away behind a stack of line 6 pedals (because i asked to try out the line 6 chorus) that they’d forgotten they had, i’d never have found that sound

Red Witch Empress Chorus / Vibrato
December 27, 2008 at 8:53 pm #89720BlueSteelParticipantI got the Small Clone a few months ago. I was origonally going to get a boss chorus pedal but when i played the small clone, it just sounded so much better.
