    Hi, I’m trying to split the signal from my guitar so I can freeze stuff in the Superego without distortion but play over the top with distortion.

    The guitar signal is split with a y cable (or dual output pedal- seems to make no difference which). One signal goes through the Superego and the other through a distortion type pedal. They are then recombined using another Y cable (one I had made up for me with resistors in it to keep both signals strong), before going to the amp. (I hope all this makes sense).

    It works fine with a Green Monkey OD but not with a Muff. Could this be because the Green Monkey is buffered? I’d rather use the Muff so any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks P.

    Oh! Just noticed Arcadesonfire’s post which seems relevant to my question. My Y lead with resistors doesn’t seem to prevent signal loss on one channel so maybe I need a buffered splitter as Cryabetes suggests. Trouble is- would I need another buffered splitter to recombine the signals as I only have one amp?

    you’d need a buffered mixer to recombine them. You can get both out of a Boss LS-2. Otherwise, any small powered mixer will do (Behringer UB502, etc) – just be sure you aren’t overloading it.

    Many thanks. Excuse my ignorance but can the Boss split and mix simultaneously?

    yep. Either the A <-> A+B (or B <-> A+B) or the byp <-> A+B modes will do that for you. The A & B knobs are the volume for the return. It’s easily the most handy utility pedal I’ve ever owned.

    thx but still not understand how improve my setup…ok i can buy a split pedal(like radial efx or radial aby), but my questions are: “where could i put the splitter? ” xsist a way to take off my superego from the signal of soul food or big muff”….
