I have had the electro-harmonix 22500 for several years now and it has been just sitting there as I worked on other projects. I have decided to finally figure out how to use this unit so I am slowly digging into the manual. I was experimenting with the rhythm loops but it never even occurred to me that when I go into an amp with a signal, if I overdrive the amp, of course, everything will be overdriven including the rhythm loop. I know the unit has stereo capability but does having two output channels allow for the rhythm signal to exit through one and a guitar etc. exit through the other?
TMac Does your amp have an effects loop?
Or are you cracking the amp for power amp distortion?
Actually, mainly for ease instead of having to drag out an amp, I’m going into a Strymon Iridium amp pedal and I am overdriving it BUT I do have an overdrive pedal I will be relying on more than overdriving an amp. I will eventually be mainly using an AER 60/4 acoustic amp that will be clean and it does look like it has a send and return in the back of it for effect loop capability.
Well if your using a amp simulator put the looper after it and you will be fine.
In other words anything that distorts put before the looper so the looper has a clean path out.
The only thing is that I was using a small set of headphones in the Iridium to hear things, BUT that’s okay, I’m eventually going to be using my clean acoustic amp and that will be fine.
I noticed on some other forums there is a firmware update to enable easier loop erasure, I’ll download that at some point. I’m looking forward to getting a handle on this unit, there are so many possibilities that I can already envision.
Thank you, and I know where this forum is now if I have more questions!
Tmac Yes the new firmware is great! Download it here:
