No info yet, as much as I’d like to stay positive and give Electro Harmonix credit, I haven’t heard anything since my last post. Maybe I’ll bug my contact again…
December 16, 2011 at 4:12 pm #116544Presence76MemberHey here’s an update for anyone still following this thread…I sent an e-mail to my contact yesterday, and here is the response:
“We are closer but haven’t quite nailed it yet. It’s funny I was listening to the latest update this morning. We have to do further testing to decide if we fixed the problem.”
So, no date mentioned of course, but at least they’re working on it. I actually haven’t had my expression pedal plugged in, so I’ve been using it without the whammy function (still a great pedal).

Presence76, I have a similar problem with my Ring Thing + Exp pedal. Where do you send your emails so i can also write to the same place and put a bit more of pressure on them?
Every time I recall a preset during a gig if i move the expression pedal, the thing detects setting modifications, hence the orange light starts blinking. Then when i switch the thing on often, the sound reproduced has nothing to do with the preset.
Most problems occur while using pitch modification effects such as whammy or octaves. In a live situation, you step on the thing when the solo of a Rage Against the Machine cover comes, and instead of getting the whammy, you get a big fart, so i need to press the orange led button again to recall the effect. It happens every single time.
The bypass of the pitch presets is basically not a bypass. You can hear an electronic buzz in the background as the thing is off, so you need to have it on a non pitch altering preset if you want to avoid that.
then the preset selection switch most of the times doesn’t work as expected, no matter the position of the expression pedal. you need to keep tapping and moving the expression in the middle of a song.
This pedal involves so much inefficient tap dancing it’s not funny.
Then another big and serious problem with this pedal is that if there are any problems with the current the pitch modification presets will go ‘out of tune’. Now im using one of those diago isolated power supplies that should draw enough current for this pedal. But the lower part of the whammy is never in tune.
I’m seriously disappointed with this pedal. I’s not practical at all for live situations and that’s what I bought it for. I think I would have been better off with a dunlop rotovibe and an early digitech whammy. I hope they get to address these problems and they can fix my unit soon…
cheers and merry xmas to everybody
January 20, 2012 at 2:14 am #116816Presence76MemberHey-just received my Ring Thing back with a Software Update and it’s working great! No more warble! The e-mail I used was “info@ehx.com” Not sure how they’re going to tackle the update for everyone, but there is definitely a fix! I’m very happy with this pedal now.

March 23, 2012 at 1:48 pm #117188MarkCMemberDo you notice any tracking difference after the software upgrade? There is slight latency in the attack and the sound itself has an almost very short delay effect on it when using the whammy mode on my Ring Thing. I’m wondering if the upgrade improves the performance.
