Hi folks…I’m a long-time fan of EHX product, but am brand new to the forum. Anyway, I’m looking for a little help in restoring a first-run Small Stone…
I scored this little beauty at a local guitar show for $35. Admittedly, it was a leap of faith. The footswitch was missing (not a big deal…presumably), but I don’t know what’s gonna happen once I replace that and fire it up.
My problem is that the board is a bit tricky to figure out. In my experience, the PCB “IN” and “OUT” have always been easy to find. Not so much on this one. Consequently, I’m having trouble installing the footswitch. I see lots of pics of vintage Small Stone PCBs online, but none of them seem to look like the one that I have. My circuit board is brown in color, and every pic that I’m seeing has a green board, and the wiring seems just a little different.
I guess what I’m looking for would be any advice on the location of the effect “IN” and “OUT”. If anyone happens to have one of these laying around, or is able to find a pic online, and can post it on here…that’d be super helpful! I’m REALLY anxious to get this puppy up and running!

Unless you can read schematics in which case you can find it by searching google.

May 9, 2014 at 11:53 am #119949gazerrockMemberIt’s the forum, Scruffie. There’s a 75kb max size for attachments. Anyway, here’s a better shot of the bottom of the PCB.
I’ll follow with a shot of the top.

May 9, 2014 at 12:29 pm #119951ScruffieMemberThe pictures at that resolution are next to useless…
But, looking at the schematic anyway, the output will be one of the legs of that big green cap (should say either 100nF or 104 on it) it will be the leg that connects to a 270k resistor (colour code red, violet, yellow).
The input… can connect to one of the legs of the colour switch or may be on board, are there 6 wires connected to the switch? It looks like 1 or 2 are missing.
If you can host the original photos (assuming they’re of decent quality) and link to them that’d be helpful as then I can trace and mark the board for you.

I understand that the pics aren’t much help, but that bit of information that you’ve given me could be exactly what I need to get the footswitch in there, then I’ll be able to figure out whether or not there are any other issues with the pedal.
Your help is very much appreciated!

Also…Scruffie, there is one “unused” leg on the color switch.
Anyway…here are links to a couple pics of the PCB:

Output is the yellow wire already running to the footswitch you have there.
I can’t work out where the missing toggle wire goes from the schematic without tracing it, the board doesn’t seem to quite match up to it.
