I’ve read about some great bands who use their reverb pedals as their only reverb effect when they record vocals. I’d really be interested in learning how one can accomplish this, but by still acquiring a clean sound. Plugging a mic into a mixer, mixer into pedal, pedal into amp, and then recording the amp, doesn’t give the cleanest sound and I dislike that universal “noise” that occurs in even the quietest of amps. I know another option is to go from the pedal into my laptop, but even that isn’t so clean. By the way, I’m only using Audacity to record, so I’m not trying to get complicated; just want some clean sounds.

Anyone else possess some knowledge on the matter?

Thanks in advance, guys and gals.

mixer with an FX send is what most people do

Since you’re using Audacity though, it’s hard to get a good sound.

How would the connections work, using the FX send? My knowledge of mixers isn’t the greatest so please provide me with the “For Dummies” explanation. Thank you, my friend!

Should be no issue. I have often plugged a Shure SM 58 straight into an EHX pedal and then the pedal into a mixer. No problem, great sounds.
..and when working with a laptop all sound quality is dependent on the sound card, the graphic card, the RAM capacity, the maximum computing speed, the OS, the software package….this list can go on for a long time.

Thank you. My problem is figuring out how to use the FX send. I have one of the new MacBook Pro laptops so laptop issues don’t bother me.

how to use an FX send depends on the mixer and you should check the manual. But usually, there is an FX send and return jack- you plug send into the IN on the pedal, and plug the out into the Return. Then there’s usually some way on your mixer to route the channel into the FX loop, and also a way to mix in the FX loop volume.

Totally did all of that. Monitors show that they work, but when recorded, the reverb isn’t audible in the least. Oh well, thanks for all of the help anyways, gentlemen.
