I was reading that the flanger hoax is recomended to be run thru the FX loop of an amp because it puts out a line level.
I play thru a Twin Reverb…no FX loop.
Am I gonna damage my amp/other pedals or get a bad sound?
How essential is using it thru an FX loop?
umm, i’m pretty sure you wont damage your amp or any other pedals or get a bad sound with it.
I’m pretty sure the reason they suggest running it through the effects loop is because it sounds balls before distortion on most settings, and you basically lose the through zero capabilities. Run it after your distortion pedals and the Twin will love it.
I have one and, it has no problem going straight in……
time based fx really like being in a loop but, it is not necessary…
and sometimes people will perfer them in a loop and other times prefer them running through the preamp…
I tend to like them with the extra harmonics going through the pre-amp but, I do tend to play on the clean side of things
yeah me too. thats why i have a twin reverb!
the only drive pedal I have is a blackstone (gasp! i know, not ehx) because it is truely the only pedal i found that gives a sound from natural slight breakup to natural distortion. and that pedal is first in the chain…
phew, you guys have calmed my fears. im very excited about this pedal…i got in on craigslist for $125! woot woot.
The Hoax will put out what you put in…
if it`s too hot, it can distort.
Is that bad for the pedal? because that happens to me sometimes.
No – just for the ears & aesthetix…
Cool, thanks!
