Hi!
I was thinking of adding more fuzz to my chain of effects, it would go like this:
1 MXR Blue Box ( already in chain of fx)
1 Little Big MUFF(Vintage version) (a friend of mine is using it right now)
1 Bass Big Muff(already in chain of fx)
1 90’s Sovtek black Big Muff ( one friend want to lend me his)i do not intend to use them all together, but rather have 4 different fuzz sounds, i play in a fuzz heavy drone music duo, so that could be cool ? No?
Am i Going fuzz crazy?

And if you gonna use all of them, if they all sound different to you, that you want all of them then go for it…I have Zvex FuzzFactory and I couldn’t be happier, but thats a different beast than Muffs and Blue Box. Have whatever you want if you feel satisfied and you’re using all of those fuzzboxes – because it’s bad for a pedal to be left out, isn’t it ?
Blue Box is different than LBM, Bass Big muff and Green Russian sound a bit similar to me, but if you’re playing even some bassy sounds, they all certainly have a different flavour – Chris Wolstenholme of Muse has 5 different fuzzboxes for his bass sounds and he’s often using two russian big muffs together…

I had three different dirt boxes (OD & distortion; no fuzz yet) on my board until yesterday, when I had to remove one to make room for the Superego. I did occasionally have all three on at the same time.
March 31, 2014 at 5:52 pm #119819G-R-O-C-KMemberI had a few different fuzzes on my pedalboard … but ended up just using one (Earth Quaker Devices – Hoof Reaper) … if they are all very different sounding then do it …. if not … your just adding unnecessary noise/tone suck to your line…. i found when the full band kicked in i struggled to tell the difference between the pedals …
A plan might be to buy a true bypass looper and set-up a few loops … your pedal flow could be…
TUNER
COMPRESSOR
WAHLOOP 1 = FUZZ 1 / COMPRESSOR
LOOP 2 = FUZZ 2 / CHORUS / DELAY
LOOP 3 = EQ / FUZZ 3 / OCTAVECHORUS
DELAYI would find the exact sound you want using multiple pedals and create a loop.. that way you want be tap dancing …

April 2, 2014 at 7:44 am #119832G-R-O-C-KMemberHeres a pedalboard i was using with a few FuZZIes a while back…. a lot has changed since then.
Fuzzes are:
1979 Fuzz Face (original)
Big Muff re-issue (with a volume mod and with sticker mojo)
Fulltone Catalyst
Boss Hyper Fuzz …. dont know why i sold this pedal … it was awesomeApril 2, 2014 at 7:50 am #119833G-R-O-C-KMemberQuote:Quote:You can never have too much fuzz.Agreed. I don’t think it’s scientifically possible to get to the point of having too many fuzz pedals…
I disagree … i know my Big Muff sucked a lot of tone … add a few other tone suckers to the mix and you might as well play through a small solid state amp or DI into a computer ….. same effect.

I’ve got All the NYC Big Muff Pis (the regular size, the “little” and the nano) no need to have them all. The nano stays on my board with the big amp, while the big one is in the man cave which is too small for a big amp.
…I still think you can’t have too many.
April 2, 2014 at 12:52 pm #119835G-R-O-C-KMemberAgreed …. you can never have too many FUZZ pedals … or any other guitar pedal really …. every pedal has its own characteristic that can be used somewhere …
Rule 1: Never sell a pedal (unless your upgrading to something way better) … ive had some cool stuff over the years that i wish i still had.

I was at the point of selling my Little Big Muff Pi because it did not sound as “wooly” as the NYC; played it again last night and realized it’s a great distortion pedal in it’s own right.
…also getting ready to pull the trigger on a couple of Pigtronix pedals that are on clearance…
