    Hi all, just got a Q tron. I needed one pedal to be the ‘one’ that does adds the spacey effects on my chain.. anyways.. did a search on the web and this board to find any settings peeps found useful or educational, but nothing came up even here… :P So asking again, anyone got any recommendations? This one is without the effects loop.

    The auto wah like sounds are easy, but if anyone had any suggestions to understanding what an envelope filter like this can do, i’d really appreciate it. )

    I don’t have any setting suggestions, but the real key to success with the Qtron is learning to use the Gain knob, because it regulates the amount of input to the filter. If you change pickups with your pickup selector, your Gain knob might need a different setting. If you change guitars, your Gain knob might need a different setting. If you use an effect in front of the Qtron, your Gain knob might need a different setting. Etc, etc… Even playing lower on the neck, or higher on the neck will sometimes require new settings.

    Also, the manual for the Q-tron is here.
    I pretty much set mine as a MuTron most of the time. Fender&EHX4ever;is totally right – the key is the Gain control.

    Drive Switch: Down
    Range Switch: Low
    Mode Switch: BP
    Peak Control: Maximum
    Boost Switch: Boost
    Gain Control: Vary the Gain control until the Overload Indicator LED lights on only the loudest notes you play.
    Increasing the Gain will saturate the filter, yielding those famous, “chewy” Mutron-like sounds.
    Adjusting the Peak control will vary the intensity on the effect. For tonal variations, adjust the
    Range, Mode, and Drive controls.

    Thanks for the info.. the article clarified how it works alot. Especially, why a gain control on the pedal being a real influence on the entire function of the circuit. in reading more up on it and a section in particular it made me wonder more… hah!

    Can a ‘warble’ be predictably set so that it almost sounds synchronous with rhythm? Maybe it’s just random variability in the effect but it seemed some settings sounded as if it was in rhythm with what i was playing (attack/ducking and sweeping speeds).. an artifact of dynamics?

    try putting a tremolo in front of the Q tron but make sure the tremolo isn’t too dramatic, just a dab will do ya.
