I recently bought a EHX Deluxe Memory Man. It is the older analog model from the late 70:s, the one with 5 control knobs. Everything seems to work fine until i crank the volume control on the pedal, when a strong fussy noice appears. The tone from the guitar is there but also the strong fuzz which grows stronger the more i crank the volume knob. If i turn the volume knob in the bottom the fuzzy noice disappears, but then the signal turns to weak comparing to the signal from my other pedals. When i crank the volume at max the pedal cuts off the entire signal. This due to an overload in the signal i believe, or?
What do you think the issue is?
*Oxide in the electronic? (Shall i try to use the CRC Oxide spray for example?)
*Do i may have to change some hardware and led some new cables? For example the volume knob package with all the belongings? (Who provides spare parts for old models like this?) I also checked the power supply in case i’ve been using wrong equipment but it seems like i have the recommended power supply from EHX, also made by EHX. It,s 24V with 100 m/amp. Anyhow. This is an old, vintage pedal so i’m not that surprised but i would love to get it fixed. I have the settings on vibrato and the guitar signal goes through the pedal and then echo out.
I hope that someone can help me somehow?
Turn the Feedback down. With the Volume cranked you’re overloading the pedal.
The fuzzy sound starts when the volume knob has reached approximetly 1/3 of the whole way. The first 1/3 it sounds like it should but then the signal is way to weak comparing if i would bypass the pedal. When i reach half way through the volume register the signal feels correct comparing to the bypass signal but then yet again, the enoying fuzzy sound is there.
Are both the clean and delayed signals distorting?
Yesterday i bought a bottle of oxide clean. I took the pedal apart and then i used the spray on every connection and into the electronics. Then i put the pieces back together again, waited for a couple of hours and then i plugged the pedal. I swear when i say that it sounds practicly like new again.
