I have an old Russian Small Stone from the late 80s, according that one website, and everytime I use it, it waits a long time to start phasing, and when it does, it seems like it’s activated when I play something really loud, almost like the way an envelope filter reacts. It’s also EXTREMELY noisy, and it picks up a local radio station, but it picks up a different one each time. In order to make sure it wasn’t just my amp, I used the SMMH’s looper feature to record output from just the guitar and small stone, and sure enough when the loop played back, whatever was broadcast on the radio at the time repeated as well. Any suggestions? I plan on buying a polyphase in the future anyway, but I’d still like to keep this around and functional if possible.
The second problem I have is with my new Small Clone. It’s only about 2 weeks old, if that, and whenever I turn it on, there’s a loud electronic popping sound, like a current being audibly sent to ground. This only happens, however, when I first turn it on. If I turn it off and then on again, it’s fine, until the next time I decide to play when it pops again. This isn’t really a huge deal, as I love the sound on it, and I can just turn it on/off really quickly while the tubes in my amp are warming up, and I plan on buying a true-bypass loop sometime in the future, in which case the pedal will ALWAYS be on, but I’d still like to know what causes it to do that.
Thanks, and sorry for the wall of words.
