hey all, im running a ’82 jazz chorus (solid state) and ive been looking for a little bit of dirt and tube warmth to add in to the mix. i love the way my amp takes all my pedals but sometimes you just need a bit of tube-ness. i picked up a HOT TUBES overdrive distortion to try and solve the problem, but i want less distortion out of it. right now it has the standard 12AX7WB tubes in it. ive heard that 12au7 tubes would have less distortion. is this correct? anyone have a suggestion of how i can get less gain out of it? any mods out there? how to run it at a lower power? right now i have the input gain and output gain at the minimum and it sound good, just wish i could back it off a tad more. any help would be awesome!
Yes they have less gain.
You could also try the Tube EQ. Or turn the gain knob down+lowr gain tubes.
