Home › Forums › The Lounge › Pre-Wired Pickguard/Pickup a better alternative?
I have three pretty gig-worthy guitars, but two of them are my babies and do not want to keep bringing them to gigs.
I wanted to grab a cheap Squier or MIM Strat and just grab a pre-wired pickguard/pickup set and wanted to know if there’s a big difference between the volume and two tone knobs function as they would on a normal Strat pickguard would.
Also, are pre-wired pickguard/pickup sets able to be modified like the various Fender mods (ie: the mid switch boost that can be installed on the input jack, TBX control thingie, etc.)
(didn’t know where else to post this question) I dare not infuriate the MODS =]
depends on the pickguard/pickup set, I suppose, and who pre-assembled it/which parts they use. You might get a better response at the harmonycentral forums.
thanks, sadly…I traded the guitar that I was going to install the prewired thingie to, but on the other hand I got my very 1st American Strat back, anyone ever order from Warmoth?
thanks…I might hold off because I found a Korea Bird’s-Eye Maple neck, but I just might order a custom one anyway.
