hi there, im in australia, never had an ehx tube pedal before, but now i need to power a black finger, i think its 12watt/1amp AC? looks like a custom power input, any info on where i could get an official or unofficial power supply for this thing if i have to order an aussie one from ehx and have it shipped and how? or if there are local suppliers here that could hook me up? or if theres something unofficial that will work, would be great!

No ideas who’s the distributor there, but you shouldn’t have too much trouble finding one.April 15, 2009 at 3:16 pm #95693bluesdog88ParticipantHey olux, I had the same problem with a holy grail, its much cheaper buying pedals off ebay than paying what they charge in Aus! I would give Billy Hydes a ring, if there isnt a store near you, there is an online store:

I made the mistake of buying a power supply from http://www.guitareffectspedals.com/electro-harmonix.html
The box said it can be used with most EHX MXR BOSS and IBANEZ pedals, and it came with a voltage converter which i could have bought at the local electronics store.Good luck

First some background: Bought a Metal Muff in Houston and returned to Aust. Worked great, then one night at a gig I plugged in the noname brand 9VDC supply I use for all my other pedals and the MM stopped working – I didn’t know why at the time. As I bought the MM in USA no warranty in Aust!! Took it to the warranty agent to have a look; thought is was the bypass switch so he bypassed the bypass switch but no good. A friend was in Houston so I asked him to get me another one. Same thing happened again. This time I twigged it must be the power supply. As I said I have used the same power supply for every other pedal I have (Boss, Digitech, Vox, Seymour Duncan etc.) and it is fine. I checked the voltage and polarity and it is perfect. So I sent the both MMs with my story to EH in USA and waited. About 2 weeks later the two MMs were returned in perfect working order but no note to say what the problem was or why it happened.
So now I”m in a quandary; do I plug in another 9VDC power supply (I now have a Boss Brand PS in a Boss pedal board case) and risk it or play it safe ans live with batteries for ever in the MM.
Can anyone shed any light on why this may have happened? The only thing I can think of is that somehow the power supply let some of the 60Hz AC signal through and the MM wasn’t able to handle it but as I said there is no problem (or noise) with the other pedals and my multimeter shows a flat 9VDC output.
Cheers
AA
