Hello dear Electro-Harmonix people,
I bought EHX Polychorus in nyc music store few weeks ago. Originally it comes with a ac/dc adaptor for Us voltage (INPUT:120V AC 60Hz 55mA …OUTPUT:24V DC 100mA). Now I came to Europe side and I wondering if its alright to plug this box through simple 110->220 v Travel Plug Adapter (http://travel-adapters.ecrater.com/product.php?pid=2170471). people in shop said it simply will work that, but I have doubts! is originally included adapter has enough power to convert 220V?Or I have to find other voltage converter -220V->24V ac/dc? and if yes What exact (mA) do I need to look for? does any other effect pedal producer transformers would fit?
I dont want to experiment with risk to burn down the pedal. and How I understand any even small wrong power displacement give bad impact on sound quality.
excuse my lack of electricity knowledge
Thanks

you need to get a proper transformer (not a flimsy travel transformer since that probably won’t last since the pedal will be running 24/7). mine cost about 20 euro and i got it at my local electronics shop. since you’re using a pedal it is much easier to just buy a new power supply that works in europe. they’ll run you about 15 euro and you’ll be able to find them at a music shop or you can order them at http://www.thomann.de (and you’ll be guaranteed that it’s the one that is designed for the pedal if you get the proper EHX one).

March 15, 2009 at 3:18 pm #94541nightravenMemberthat’s the one, it’s most likely an incorrect picture, you can see in the description that it’s an EU adaptor.
i have that exact one bought from exactly there to power my q-tron

March 19, 2009 at 2:07 pm #94662re_crewMemberBuying it from analogman it costs adapter price+postal costs – together about 50$ for such a small unit.. so its nonsense.
I found one pretty same power adapter in local store (regulated , 220V-24V, with exact dc jack polarization), but instead of original 100mA this have 800 mA.
is it ok such a mA difference?
