I have an electric mistress, small clone, and deluxe MM…. could I get different sounds with a poychorus then with those pedals?

You’re better off w/ separate pedals unless space is a concern. The Polychorus does all the same things, but only one at a time and not as good as any one pedal.

The Polychorus is unique in my opinion. The chorus is in stereo, for starters. You won’t be able to accomplish that with the 3 pedals you have. Chorus, in particular, is an effect that I prefer in stereo; and for that reason, I have the PolyChorus instead of the Small Clone.

Also, the Small Clone only has continuous adjustment over rate, and 2 preset depth settings. The Deluxe Electric Mistress only has continuous adjustment over rate, depth, and feedback. The Polychorus has continuous adjustment over 4 different parameters- rate, depth, feedback, and tune/delay. The tune/delay is particularly useful, because it allows you to adjust the amount of delay time of the modulated signal. The delay time is preset for you on the SC and the DEM.

I am a firm believer that everyone should have one of every EHX pedals , they each have their own characteristics and sound amazing when you start stacking them ! I think Fender&EHX4ever;is well on his way to a stellar collection ! :thumb:

    i have all of 3

deluxe mistress reissue with power cord
    small clone DIY
    polychorus reissue

The deluxe and small clone has a brighter sound since the different input sections
the polychorus is way bassy compared to the small clone or even the mistress

although you can “emulate” some clone settings but they will sound darker and bassy sounding (because of the characteristics of the polychorus)

the polychorus doesn’t emulate quite well the deluxe mistress, but i’ve read that the old one does quite closer to the mistress so if you want to get shimmering extreme chorus sound = get the polychorus

if you want something more usable and musical = get the mistress

if you want something more musical and simpler = get the small clone

The polychorus can get those feedback noises as the memory man with less delay time, but they sound the same and also can get the same delay + modulation sounds in my opinion.

As a chorus pedal the small clone is way better but as a noise making machine and a versatile chorus/flanger the polychorus is cool, its worth owning IMO.

the deluxe electric mistress has trimpots inside for delay, feedback limit, bias and something else that’s useful which i can’t remember – change the ones you like into real pots and you’ve got something that sounds better than the polychorus and offers more control ;)

I have 2 Electric Mistress and I love ’em both, but I’m not sure I want to go drilling into the enclosures. In no way was I saying that the PolyFlange and the Stereo PolyChorus are better than the Electric Mistress, Small Clone, or Deluxe Memory Man. I’m just saying that it is unique, and not redundant.

damn you and your vast collection of vintage kit, lol

should we come to an agreement that a new, less valuable DEM with a bit of drilling can come close to the possibilities of the polychorus? :p

i think the DEM comes closer to the polychorus than the clone or the DMM can. but i still don’t think it’s unique enough to have a spot on the board as well as a DEM or clone (i think we can agree that the DMM destroys the polychorus in terms of basic delay – imo the double track is a bit unnecessary).

god that black DEM is so beautiful :(

I think you should get it because although all of those pedals are great, you could use it at one chorus setting and then switch right to your small clone to get another chorus sound without switching settings. You know what i’m trying to say? Like you could have two chorus or flange sounds with each pedal.
