I’ve heard so much crap about the POG2, but mine arrived today and I have to say; wtf u chattin’ ’bout fool?

’cause this thing is amazing, I mean zero/zip/zilch latency none/nada/no glitches and an endless array of sounds to sculpt. I can turn my guitar into a pretty convincing organ, or bass (or piccolo, YOU DECIDE!) and as for choosing an analog octave down over this? Screw that; the flawless tracking sets this thing apart, you can do what you like; pick/slide/double-stop/slap/slap chords! and this thing just doesn’t care, you won’t hear a peep from it, just pure multi-octavial loveliness.

Towards the end of my 3 hours sat making sounds (much to the other-half’s annoyance) I plugged it in with another pedal; the Big Muff Pi w/ Tone Wicker, and bugger me that was an enhancement; using the first sub-octave (on it’s own) with the LPF set mid-range and with a very high Q, I got the best fuzz bass I’ve ever heard, needless to say I’ll be using my guitar and my POG2 for recording this style of bass in all future projects ever. Another thing the Pi brought out brilliantly was the first upper octave; full octave up and full dry signal created the most organic and desireable octave-fuzz going.

This thing was totally worth the £200 price tag, I’m a very happy customer :)

Ring Thing or Riddle next? Help me spend my money before I’ve earned it xD

    EDIT:

I’ve done these vids for youtube since I got the pedal,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CUdp12H1Y7c (straight forward demo, might be worth a look if you’re considering buying!)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBhP8OIzchY (a few of my favorite sounds, a couple of mad ones using other pedals too, more interesting than informative)

Also, I’m considering a Stereo Memory Man w/ Hazarai as my next pedal now on top of the Ring Thing or Riddle, but which one first!? Such are my woes.

+1 on everything you said about the POG2. I vote Ring Thing next. Check out Bill Ruperts Effectology series to see why. Bill also does an exceptional demo vid you can get to by checking out the product page.

The pog2 is an awesome tool for musicians. It transforms your guitar’s signal into usable sounds that don’t sound fake (Roland guitar synth) or glitchy (Digitech Whammy). The organ and twelve string sounds are spot on. The presets are awesome to use on the fly and with the addition of big muff (saxophone), a wah (trumpet), and a loop/delay pedal you can create songs that sound like a 70’s jazz ensemble. EHX keeps on blowing my mind.

Just an update, I’ve had this for a couple of weeks now and (I know you bassist are gonna give me stick for this but…) I’ve just stopped using my bass guitar all-together. I find it far more natural, and it sounds far more ‘me’ to just turn up the lower octave sliders for certain parts, rather than put a stand-alone bass line in. My playing is always very rhythmic anyway so bass lines were usually just doubled with the bass so there’s still a bass line there, it’s just not played on bass.

Besides, with this thing running through a Big Muff there isn’t much room for anything else in the mix!

I think a POG2 or the V256 is next for me. As a owner of both the Riddle and Ring Thing. I’d be hard pressed to recommend one over the other. I love that the Riddle has attack and decay controls. That really opens up different sounds. The Ring Thing is one my favourite pedals of this year. But I can’t help but wonder if it doesn’t overlap some of what the POG2 does.

The riddle would probably also go better with the POG2.

    Hey,
POG 2 is a real nice tool. I tried a lot of octave pedal but this one have a really nice sound, it track very well and allows you a lot more with the attack, lp and detune things. If you never tried, you should!

Here is a nice and short run through of the POG2:

And even on bass guitar! It track pretty well and sound very nice!
