Hi guys
I recently got a new Epiphone Les Paul 1959 Standard Cherry Starburst as an early birthday present. It looks awesome, and the ones great, But on my low E, A, and D strings i find then when i strum any fret, it sort of makes this weird rattling noise, as though the string is hitting or bouncing off another frett. Is this normal?? do i need to just wear it down a bit?? or should i take it in to get looked at?? PLEASE HELP because i have a competition in a few days.
Thanks,

It basically sounds like it could do with a good set up, I would take it to a guitar shop (where the people actually know what they are doing) and get it looked at, it shouldn’t cost much and you’ll have an excellent playing guitar afterwards.
maybe the neck just needs a little relief? if you capo at the first fret and then fret at the last fret what’s the gap feel like under the bottom E in the middle of the fretboard? Tap you finger up and down on it and tell me what it’s like, is it a small gap or is there no gap?

And how long do you think it’ll take to get fixed. Cause i have a concert on Thursday?? But, if it’ll take too long, i still have a back up guitar (a pretty good one actually) so Ill be fine.

If this is a brand new guitar I’d be tempted to take it back to where it came from and ask them to sort it out (or exchange it for another guitar) if that’s possible.

Thanks again,
Hockeyguy
