How about a pitch/Whammy type pedal where you can choose the interval for both to up and toe down. There would be 2 knobs. Left knob = toe down interval, right knob = toe up interval. Let both knobs range every single interval from minus 2 octaves to plus 2 octaves. And everything in between. So if you want toe up to be minus a perfect 5th and toe down to be plus 1 octave, set each knob..store it in a preset if you want and pitch away. This would appeal to people that want Digitech to bring back the bass whammy, which has different options than the current whammy. Since you can set whatever you want, it’s every type of whammy.
Also:
-has to have preset options. At least 8 presets.
-Make it like the hog pedal pitch shift where you DON”T NEED TO EVER CALIBRATE IT!
-Maybe add other fx into it, like when the toe is down, you get your interval and tremolo/fuzz/reverb/etc. And nd vice VS. Plus you can adjust how it sweeps into the fx. Fast sweep or slower sweep. Does the fx come in immediately or at the tail end etc…
-has to be compatible for both bass and guitar. Has to track very low bass frequencies, maybe even lower than a 5 string bass.
-Have a wahwah option like the hog, but with adjustable sweep. You can have subtle sweep or something more extreme than currently exists.
-maybe midi switchableAnyone want to add anything else?

June 11, 2009 at 8:58 pm #97740kidgloves2MemberThanks Julian. I know it’s asking a lot, especially with all the research and design involved. Maybe adding FX to it is overkill. I would be happy with just a pure form of my idea. Two knobs for the intervals and presets. And no calibrating. That alone would put the digitech version in trouble.

Have one or two knobs for mixing the wet and dry(one mix for the expression down and another mix knob for expression up). Another two knobs for arranging harmonies or octaves. The fifth one for maybe programs such as gliss, pitch bend, steel bend, and dual harmonizer or octave.

2. bad idea about the extra effects (no offence)The world needs a pedal that actually does the whammy’s job well, unlike the original.
But the problem is that every single pedal that has gotten close has been screwed up with too much other crap being thrown in (Boss PS-5, HOG (great great pedal.. not a whammy alternative)).You need to keep it pure and it will sell in the millions!!
I don’t think they actually have to do much research .. just take the code from the HOG and work from there. The “Whambender with Hazarai” perhaps?
EDIT: midi is a nice touch, but a bit useless maybe. The people who really use midi-rigs will get an Eventide. To eliminate the need for midi in the first place, and kick the Digitech completely out of the water the presets on this pedal must be footswitchable!!
July 12, 2009 at 8:56 pm #99272kidgloves2MemberThanks m0jo,
I’d like to add the thing I love about the HOG’s pitch shift is that it tracks chords!! Isn’t that the coolest?!? :thumb: You can’t do that well with a digitech whammy. I own the HOG and I always wish I had control over those pitch shift intervals.
I still think the pedal needs midi just for unlimited storing of presets with midi gear. Also ith onboard presets as well for those that don’t use midi, just the pedal.
Anyway, let’s make this happen!

You’re very welcome!
I myself have been lusting after a Whammy for a long time, but it’s just such a faulty pedal for way too much money. It doesn’t even track single notes some times haha! But!
A nice feature that might be incorperated into the Whambender (I just realised that’s a horrible name) could be: a Tracking knob! Keep it on full for perfect HOG-like tracking, or turn it down for that whammy-warble’n-noise! It would win over all the Morello fans as well and make the pedal much more versatile without destroying the main idea. -
