    so on my board (among other things) i have a Pigtronix philosopher’s tone compressor somewhat early in the chain and about midway or just past half way is a v2 Small Stone.

    When I turn the compressor on (but the SS is OFF) and play, the signal is being phased from the SS. This does not happen when the compressor is off, only when the compressor is on. I can then turn the SS on & the phasing gets stronger, but when the SS is off, there is still a prominent phasing going on.

    Is this a bad bypass or something??

    Or does it have to do with the compressed signal?

    The Small Stone isn’t true-bypass.

    yes i know that.

    so does that mean because it’s not true bypass that the phased signal bleeds into my clean signal even when the pedal is not engaged??

    will modding it for TB clear up the problem?

    Possibly. You could either try it with a bypass box or just disconnect the effect input wire temporarily.
