Hi Im wondering is there an ehx pedal available that can recreate the sound of strings on a guitar. Ie. Violins. Etc. All the synth pedals seem to recreate classic synth sounds but not strings. I’m looking for something that sounds like strings. I’m looking to play one note at a time not chords.
Hi bill that’s amazing what you did with those pedals I guess I’m gonna have to get the hog and the pog!
For a slightly less expensive option you might try the pog2 which features similar attack and filter controls to the Hog that Bill uses on Effectology. I’ve gotten a good bowed string sound out of each although I think my setting on The Hog (which is based on Bill’s) still sounds a little better so far (I’ve had the hog longer than the pog2). I like adding very small amounts of +1 and -1 octave to the sound for a little extra richness. In both cases reverb can really help too. Also, if you already have a Big Muff or something I’ve found that light fuzz or overdrive in the chain can add a sound similar to the scrape the bow makes gripping a string, which can be a great extra detail if dialed in right.
