Hello all,
Can anyone lend some advice on my current pedal-board layout? I have just started incorporating EH effects and want to be sure I have them setup appropriately. Also, I’m thinking about picking up a POG so any advice as to where to place it would be great:
, Boss TU-2, Boss DD-7, Boss NS-2 (Controlling: Boss CE-5, EH Small Stone, EH Pulsar, MD-2, EH Big Muff), Thank you!!
January 11, 2013 at 9:25 pm #118643oceanflameMemberHi!
I would try this:
Guitar / Boss TU-2 / Boss NS-2 send to EHX Big Muff / Boss MD-2 then return to Boss NS-2 output to EHX Pulsar / EHX Small Stone / Boss CE-5 / Boss DD-7.
I you get the POG, I would put it between the Boss TU-2 and Boss NS-2. I don’t have a POG, but I have a Digitech Whammy which contains somekind of an octave generator and have it at the very beginning of my setup.
The reason why I would put the Boss NS-2 before your EHX Big Muff and Boss MD-2 then return to all your modulation effects is simple, it won’t cut out your delay/reverb or any subtle sound. Let’s say you’re playing a big solo with full delay and your Boss NS-2 is controlling the delay pedal, at the end of your solo, it will suppress everything under the setting you put on the NS-2, so the delay will be cut short. I don’t know if I explained it right!
Seems like a nice gear too!

I don’t have the TU-2 or the DD-7 on the NS-2 but everything else is running though it. So far it seems good, but maybe Ill do as you suggest and take the Pulsar and Stone off.
Thanks again!

Let me know if it works well!

The NS-2 will cut or reduce everything in your chain regardless if its before, after or in your fx loop, the key is to set it up properly.. It is designed to get rid of unwanted noise which in my opinion it does well.

Cathedral Reverb.
Memory man with hazari;
Epitome,
Freeze,
Superego,
Ravish Sitar.
English MuffnNext purchase will be the Hog2, possibly microsynth. Also currently use Boss ME70 and Line 6 MM5 modeler, volume pedal, and Behringer FCB1010. Would like ideas on layout to get sounds such as Illian pipes, various drones, other synth sounds.
I will continue to use roland gear on occassion, but the purpose of this was also to be able to go wirless, and not have to scroll through menu’s. any board layout ideas are welcome. Thx.

OK Here goes, What works best for me, with all the hype with stereo, and send and return confusion.
I kept it simple and have no problems!! My Setup in order, Guitar or instrument, Boss tu3 tuner, Ernie ball 6165 volume pedal, Boss cs3 compressor sustainer, EHX epitome multi, EHX pulsar, EHX superego, EHX ravish sitar, Earthquake optical vibe the depths, EHX voice box,(2 mics 1 into voice box and one into mixer) Boss ns2 noise suppressor threshold set at 1:30, EHX octave multiplexer(for bass licks)Boss DD-20 giga delay, EHX memory man delay looper with hazarai, Boss RC-30 phrase looper, Pigtronix infinity looper, and MXR 10 band Equalizer. I ran all with the shortest cables possible mono through, and split the signal out of the equalizer to 2 amps, and I have no problems. I mic up the left and right amp into line 1 and 2 on mixer, line 3 is the first vocal mic clean signal. line 4,5,6, are open if someone wants to come over and create music. I have a reliable ole Roland JX-3P programmable preset polyphonic synthesizer on line 7 and 8 on the mixer. I have a casio keyboard clean signal on line 9 and 10, an Alesis sr-16 drum machine on line 11 and 12, a droid tablet for nature sounds on line 13 and 14, a Microsoft surface tablet on line 15 and 16 for sampling or more sounds. the two main outs of the mixer go to a bose two speaker system I use to monitor. From the Bose system line out to a behringer usb u control device into a laptop for recording with the software. then a headphone out from the mixer to a headphone amp box with the headphones plugged into the amp box. It all works just fine. I was actually impressed with the sound for someone who just makes music at home alone. The Key is setting all the mixer knobs correctly to get the best sound possible.
Truth: Some of the best artists in the world have no idea what their pedals are doing or their settings yet it is working for them!! -
