Hi all –
I have a mid 70’s Big Muff that I received in nonfunctioning form. I’ve since nursed it back to health, but when I received it, the back enclosure panel was missing, and the front panel was severely damaged (probably as a result of being used w/o the rear panel.
I’ve rehoused it over the years, using numerous “enclosures.” The most recent is a Russian Muff enclosure, but it’s a really tight fit.
Any suggestions on a proper, good looking enclosure? I guess I’d really like to get my hands on one of the NY RI enclosures, but have no idea of they can be bought separately (but I figured that this would be the place to find out).
Ideas, suggestions? Where to get an enclosure that most resembles the original? Or how to build one w/o a comprehensive machine shop?
TIA,
MW
I might have an original enclosure. I’ll need pics of the circuit board, though.
I’d prefer a non-original enclosure, the truth be told. I don’t want to drill it for the status LED that the pedal now has.
Buy a NTC RI on ebay for $50 and gut it? Re-sell the guts on ebay for $25…?
Or keep your eyes open for an old Frequency Analyzer / Black Finger / Bad Stone and gut the box (which would be a shame to do though unless the innards were damaged).
How about just sticking it in a Hammond box?
Yeah – the more I think about it, the more likely it is going to end up in a 1790NS box. I even thought about gutting a brand new Behringer VD1, but it just doesn’t seem right. At ten bucks, the Hammond box is going to be hard to beat.
I’ve got a used NYC reissue enclosure. Drop me an email.
