hi all/my beloved big muff pi has developed a really loud background buzzing noise/it sounds like when you plug a lead into an amp and grab the other end/ive recently been running an alesis drum machine through it/is this likely to have fried it somehow?/also is this a repairable problem/ive tried using a boss noise suppressor on it and that makes virtually no difference/anyone got any suggestions?/regards//
post some pics of the circuit board
drum machine wouldn’t hurt it
does it do this with just the drum machine?
Ground wire may have broken, its happened before and will likely happen again.
sounds about right
just had the cover off/i see no loose wires or any other obvious faults/i have noticed though that the buzzing is at its loudest with the tone knob turned fully to the left and as you turn it clockwise the buzzing gets progressively quieter/so it may well be the tone knob/easy job to replace or am i just better off just chucking it in the bin and getting something else?…like a metal muff
Before you throw it out PM me and I’ll give you a few dollars for it.
