first and foremost, it’s all my fault, and i’m aware that i’m a dork. that being said,
i had a russian big muff that i loved, but always wanted the nyc version. found one recently at a pawn shop that was a little beat up (just the way i like ’em) – it all worked great and i instantly fell in love. took it home, rocked out for a good 30 minutes, and then got a wild hair and decided to swap knobs with the russian… or at least see if it’s possible. unfortunately , the first thing that happened is i grabbed a hold of the sustain knob, tore it off, and the shaft broke off into the pot. i’m no electronics guy, so when i took it apart and looked at it i was clueless. is there a right way to take the old pot out and replace it? i bought a replacement and it’s just sitting here making me crazy. any help is appreciated. thanks…oh, and i plugged it back in to see if it would work without the sustain knob working, and no… the whole thing is dead. no idea why. help!
rather than remove all the knobs, just unsolder the wires from the back of the board, unsolder the pots, and remove the board. Then you can remove the broken pot and install the new one.
