exactly. it wasn’t a single sideband modulator. it was a ring modulator imitating one. and even if it was, it’s still an ehx first at that rate.

August 6, 2011 at 12:49 pm #106871WatsonWoodMemberWell, Mike and EHX have hit the lodestone. Do I have to say..once more?!!! Forum members might recall the Enchanter thread from some time ago, with some cool photos, and the discussion about developing a sitar effect for electric guitars. And I have been fooling around with some of those ideas BUT home electronics in my case are a poor joke compared with the majesty of the Ravish.
When will the Ravish be available in Europe, I wonder?Extract from the Enchanter thread started the 6th May 2009:
“I once tried out the Danelectro Swami, having heard it made some sitar-like sounds. No comment. Recently I bought a vintage re-issue Ampeg Scrambler. During a session I hooked it up to a Fender Stratocaster, then in to the EHX #1 Echo through a Vox amp. I was amazed at getting a sitar-type sound which was very pleasing. So, since we are up for ideas, I think it would be nice to have an EHX pedal named The Enchanter.
The Enchanter would enchant the player and the listener by enhancing the mantra and raga type sounds guitars sometimes approach, depending on the way they are played of course.Oriental scales would take on a new life with the Enchanter.”

Mike and the EHX have now more than fulfilled my/our hopes and expectations!
August 6, 2011 at 10:37 pm #113658Mr.GrimMemberso true WatsonWood.
if you search thrue the EHX forums, you can find user input and suggestions, that have became every new EH pedal for the last couple years.
now its awesome that there taking our suggestions directly and using them to make what we want, but i think it would be a better selling point if they would just say they made it for us users from our opinions, it proves that they listen, instead of saying it was all there own idea.
August 7, 2011 at 5:12 pm #106634WatsonWoodMemberYes, that is true. But then Mike and the guys at EHX have come up with a lot of great pedals from day one, back in the 70s. As an EHX aficianado I can only rejoice at the great sounds I have been able to create thanks to their genius and I am quite sure that they are capable of creating amazing stuff on their own! More power to them on that count.
I am also sure that they take a keen and lively interest in the forum and the ideas going round, again a reason for us musicians to rejoice. Let’s all give them a big thank-you…..and come up with some more ideas!August 8, 2011 at 12:49 pm #103168HainoMembercool pedal they should add some synthetic scale modes such as the kokinjoshi scale( a three octave japanese scale) the iwato scale and maybe an arpeggiator mode or sequencer mode with some added reverse echo or reverb. but what they should add to this is a seperate foot switching feature or extra add on preset pedal with volume/depth/ intensity and/or feedback controls.
just a thought i had running through my head these last couple of nights.[img][/img] :rawk:
nice talking to you folks take care talk later.
HainoAugust 8, 2011 at 1:47 pm #104949CryabetesParticipantcan add those yourself through the ‘teach it a scale’ mode.
August 8, 2011 at 4:48 pm #104940HainoMemberare you serious!!!!!!??????? man?
or are you pulling my leg? lol
:freak:
wow it comes out the same month as my birthday i guess thats my next present lol!!!also i recently picked up a Roland dr3 drum machine.
get a load of this: i plug my dr3 into my big muff pi and route it through my polychorus and old ancient delux memory man i love some of the sounds i get especially if i downtune my bass drum and add tonnes of muffy distortion and i use double track or flange with some controlled feedback and delay. Also sometimes i cut off the feedback at 12 0clock and add heavy swerly vibrato either with a whammy bar on my guitar ( guitar recorded and harmonized with moving harmonies and sustained natural chords)
or with analogue tremolo.another cool trick i use with a digital mixer and drum machine is called no- input- mixing!
how u do this is first route your drum machines mono jack into a mixers mic input or out put
after that route headphone jacks into the mic preamp stage directly or into monitor outputs!
be careful at first with your noise levels because you may go alittle deaf with your head phones on
play all of that what i told for tricks through a high gain amp with very fine tuned settings!
back off if you have too much reverb or low end gain (DONT BLOW YOUR AMP PLZ!)
but this style of noise making i found out originates from the early 60s late 70S JAPANESE FOLK PSYCH MINIMALIST MOVENT KNOWN AS “ONKYO” CHECK IT OUT ON YOUTUBE OR WIKIPEDIA.
BEST OF LUCK
hAINOAugust 8, 2011 at 5:36 pm #104911CryabetesParticipantno that’s serious. you could tune the sympathetic strings to the different notes of your drum machine [or whatever the pedal determines are sympathetic notes] and run that through it to make an interesting soundscape.
August 10, 2011 at 4:16 pm #115782HainoMembersounds really awesome ill have to try it out at my local music store haunt! :rawk:
