Cheers!
XanJune 24, 2010 at 7:48 pm #109790dibletMemberanyone know any differences between how the freeze works and how the cathedral infinite switch works? (besides the decay options of the new freeze) ?
is it generating the drone the same way?

Although you can obtain similar types effects with the Infinite FSW on the Cathedral and the Freeze they work completely differently.
When you press the INFINITE FSW on the Cathedral it’s as if you instantly changed the Reverb’s decay time to infinity, which is like taking the REVERB knob and cranking it. But you can play over the infinite reverb wash, while holding its FSW, and not add to the reverb. When you release the INFINITE FSW you return the reverb’s decay time to what the REVERB knob is set to.
The Freeze does not use reverb, instead it samples the sound passing thru it at the moment you press down on the FSW and creates a very short, clean loop which sounds like you are sustaining your note or chord.
June 24, 2010 at 9:33 pm #109795Mr.GrimMemberit is nice to see that they (EHX) listen to us here on the forums! as it looks like all the new pedals that came out were projects suggested and requested a number of times here in the forum!

ahh, that is what i was wondering – so the sound will be different. actually closer to the input signal than the drone you get out of the cathedral.
really excited to hear better demos of the pedal – i know i’ll have to pick one up. so happy to see this one come to light…
…
so i do have to know though – was the idea inspired by us here on the forum? i remember discussing the pedal in great lengths on some other posts – or was this something already cooking at ehx?
June 24, 2010 at 11:55 pm #109800John JMemberholy moley. ehx i love you, i love you, i love you. the guitar is actually no longer necessarily a guitar, and there just seems to be more brilliant things coming out all the time.
i dont know how, but somehow you cats have managed to find the PERFECT blend between preserving heritage and pioneering new frontiers. this is just… all of these are just phenomenal.
also, VERY impressed that the neo-clone and freeze pedals are actually being made – it’s nice that you’re using the forums as market research, taking suggestions, utilising ideas.
June 29, 2010 at 7:11 am #109877freshchopsMemberI look forward to the “Freeze” very, very (very) much! Keep the ingenuity coming guys!!!! I can tell y’all love what you do, and I love ya’ for it!
June 29, 2010 at 4:15 pm #109884joed424Memberi definitly want the headphone amp and the neo clone
June 29, 2010 at 5:29 pm #109885WatsonWoodMemberSo the Freeze has come at last, and we can surely expect a bigger XO version soon no doubt. Back some time ago my “design” for the “Freezer” was for an XO pedal so there is hope yet!
Anyway, I join with all to say thanks to EHX for being on the ball yet again. Great stuff!
….and I look forward to EHX bringing out their own “Enchanter” pedal to get some mystical Indian sounds going, that would be seriously cool!
……and a new Crying Tone series, n’est-ce pas? 🙄June 29, 2010 at 11:26 pm #109894TenSecondTedMemberI’m with you on the Crying Tone……
I can’t put off buying a Wah much longer!
June 30, 2010 at 8:41 pm #109907LlamasMemberThe EHX Freeze is supposed to be available late June. Well, today is June 30th. Any idea when that pedal will be in guitar stores?

July 2, 2010 at 5:41 am #109937julianModeratorBrian either works in a store or is a store owner.
I’d love to hear a review Brian.
