I was just wondering if this is normal for a DEM to do? I haven’t had it a month and the more I turn the rate knob up the more I hear the ticking. It’s obviously connected to the rate knob because it gets faster and ticks along with the rate. With the rate knob off I can’t hear it. Just wondering if I got a defect or something. I do have my DMM after it with the level about 9 oclock.
I have the exact same problem, it sound like a “Thump” following the rate
it is not really audible when playing but quite strange and on principle annoying…..
I have made this small clip for reference.
All buttons at 09 oclock position, and then i start to turn the rate button.

I do a mod that completely eliminates this common noise problem. Right now though I’m swamped with engineering work, so doing repairs and mods has to be put aside for the time being. Please get back to me in about three weeks.

my DEM is an older 70’s/80’s version. it has the 2 prong plug. i haven’t played it in a couple of months, but now it is making this horrible, loud, fuzz kind of popping and crackling noise. i tried spraying contact cleaner on/in it thinking it was a dust problem. didn’t work. any clues???
thanks
tim
It needs repair – it may have a bad IC or delay chip.
I can fix it, but please don’t send it before January.
