I just purchased a Nano Bassballs pedal to add to my pedal lineup. I already have the EHX Enigma Q Balls and the Big Muff Pi and I love them both. I love the Bassballs effect itself, however the horrid sound it creates when engaged with no signal being applied to it is less than pleasant…
Basically, the effect works fine when I play through it continuously. However when it is just on and I’m not playing, the pedal makes a crazy droning feedback like noise. I’ve tried using different batteries, wall adapters, no bass plugged in, no other effects in signal path, etc… pretty much everything you’d think would make a bit of difference. I tried running it through the FX loop as well. I haven’t tried a different amp yet, but I’m running a relatively new David Eden WT800 amp head and I haven’t had trouble with any other effects.
The pedal is brand new. I actually sent it in for warranty because it would have taken longer for the retailer to get a new one in for me than just sending it in for repair. It came back and to my surprise the problem still persists. It was also returned without any documentation of repair or what was causing the problem.
Any ideas / anyone having similar issues? I found one post on the forums so far that seems to be somewhat similar:

I will post a link to an audio clip tonight or tomorrow in hopes that it can provide better insight to the issue…

As you can hear in the audio clip, the first note is clean without the pedal engaged, then the pedal is turned on and the droning sound is produced. A note is then played with the Bassballs effet (sounds normal) and then the droning effect kicks in again after the signal from the bass decreases/stops.
I recorded this with just the Bassballs pedal ran through a direct box, so the amp is definitely not the issue.

I have exactly the same problem, and I’m happy to hear that a new pedal will solve the problem since I love the bassballs effect !
I’ll see what is possible with my retailer…Best regards
