Hello! New member here, I recently picked up a DMM from a guy who said it had some problems.
The first being a faulty intermittent power switch. I rewired the switch but it’s the switch itself that is bad. When the switch is working I don’t get any effect at all from this unit, the only control that does anything at all is the level knob, which when turned up the signal begins to distort. Anyone have any ideas as to where I should look for the problem? It does appear that the trim pots have been messed with since the seals have been broken on the underside of the board. Thanks in advance!
Even if the delay ICs aren’t passing signal you should get a clean sound at the minimum setting of the Blend control. If you’re not getting that, then the 1st op-amp stage is bad or there’s a broken wire, broken trace, broken pot, or something.
Thanks for the reply, I’m sorry I failed to mention that the blend control is working as well and I do get a signal when plugged in just no effect at all. No chorus/vibrato or delay.
Also, the overload led light inly lights up briefly when the footswitch is engaged then doesn’t light up at all after that.
Someone has probably screwed the trimpots up. You should have it looked at by someone who knows how to set them.
Yeah, I’m a little low on dough right now or I probably would have sent it to someone already. Makes it ever so tempting to fiddle with the trims myself.
It requires an oscilloscope, audio oscillator, the test/alignment procedure, and experience as a technician to properly set the trimpots. Without these, it should not be attempted as you’ll probably just make things worse. I designed the Deluxe Memory Man, and I certainly can restore yours to sound and operate like new.
