yet another great pedal that i just can’t live without.
February 15, 2009 at 4:31 am #93316liveatsixMemberI primarly play Telecasters, so I have my Soul Preacher on all of the time. It’s become part of my sound. I’ve tried pretty much everything else out there and nothing does the job better. And the big plus for me is that it adds a touch of dirt if you want it to.
February 15, 2009 at 10:02 am #93317GoldengloveMemberI sold my CS-3 in September, but now I kinda want a compressor. Nothing fancy with lots of knobs, just to even out some stuff (I used my CS-3 mostly for metal and it was nice, ‘xcept the bypass and noise), and add some ‘punch’ to acoustic sounds.
Seems like I want a Nano Soul PreacherApril 3, 2009 at 1:43 am #95178richozMemberThanks to this thread, I have the gut to experiment with the hidden trim pot in Nano Soul Preacher. Set the attack medium or fast, sustain around 3 to 5 o’clock, and the trim pot slightly 1 o’clock. It works for me. I like the result: nice and clean compressed sound without excess gain or noise.
I think EHX needs to put the internal trim pot information somewhere in the manual.
April 3, 2009 at 11:15 pm #95223st.bedeMemberit is one of my fav. comps…I have an old MXR, analog man’s jusicer, and the SP..very nice..they are all a bit different and I use then for different situations, SP has a great warm sound…
April 10, 2009 at 3:09 pm #95524JRigglesMemberI use my SP for bass…I love it. I’ve not tried messing with the gain trim, but I’m inclined to give it a shot and see what happens.
April 16, 2009 at 7:21 am #95724RayjaysonicMemberI love my Soul Preacher. Never thought about using a compressor on guitars until I tested out one of these and handed money over on the spot. The thing that I love about this little box of tricks is that it’s quite a creative piece of kit. You can use it as an effect rather than just being a transparent addition to your pedal board. I tested the Boss compressor (can’t remember the model off the top of my head) and it was a good pedal that did the job but for my money lacked soul, which the Preacher delivers. God I love Electro-Harmonix kit. :rawk:

I had to turn the trimpot down significantly because my Stingray was pushing it into extreme “squashing” even at milder settings. By turning it down, you increase your dynamic range, allow for milder compression, and even reduce the noise.
It’s probably set high to be ideal out-of-the-box for passive lower-output guitars. Basically, the vintage instrument / classic compression combo.
So which way did you adjust the trim pot for the best results? Down seems to mean up, because if you rotate the trimpot clockwise it reduces the input sensitivity (maybe I’m wrong, that is what I seem to get). I just got one, love the way it sounds, just trying to optimize the s/n ratio. Many thanks in advance!

I am trying the White Finger of my bass player and I liked a lot, but it’s really too big for my pedalboard. Is the Nano Soul Preacher another Ross clone?

I’ve put the Soul Preacher on the “check it out”-list, I want to use it for bringing the funk!
Plus I need to fill out my strat sometimes.July 19, 2009 at 7:00 pm #99740julianModeratorI’m thinking of getting one so that my hollow body guitars (which don’t have a lot of sustain) aren’t so plinky with the HOG
