Hey guys, just thought I’d post here for a bit of advice on my new Nano DMM!
It sounds amazing (the repeats are the cleanest I’ve heard on any delay I’ve owned, and really beautiful with modulation), but it seems to have an issue: there’s an audible ticking sound coming from the pedal that’s just loud enough through a cleanish amp to be annoying when not playing. The ticking speeds up and slows down with the rate knob, so I guess it’s LFO noise, and it can be heard when the pedal is on, but it’s also audible when the pedal is switched off in true bypass mode (as well as trails mode), which I assume means that it’s some kind of noise leak?
The only way to make the ticking stop is to turn the Rate knob all the way up (it gets faster and faster, then eventually vanishes), which obviously isn’t a great solution as it basically makes the modulation unusable, or (weirdly?) to turn the guitar volume knob all the way down (which I don’t really understand, since the noise is clearly coming from the pedal and not the guitar, so I don’t see how this would affect it?)
I’ve tried the pedal with nothing else in line, and using three different isolated power supplies (the supplied adapter, another 9v adapter I have, and also an isolated output from a pedalboard power supply), and the ticking is still there.
So the question is: should I return this for a replacement, or is there a simple fix? Or am I just missing something obvious? I assume this isn’t an expected issue with these?
Any helpful thoughts appreciated, anyway. 🙂
