Hey guys,
I was under the impression that the Nano Bass Muff was a reissue of the Sovtek Green Muff. I’m also aware that the Green Russian is also a reissue.
What are the differences between these two muffs? Or are they the same thing?
Thanks!
The Bass Muff isn’t a re-issue as much as the voicing was “inspired by” the Russian muff. The Bass Muff, as a result, has a distinct sound when you compare them up close, although they are similar. As well, the Bass Muff’s tone pot is set for bass (while the Russian is technically a guitar pedal) and the Bass Muff also has the toggle missing from the Russian.
They are close but different. I’m a bassist and I jumped on the Russian re-issue!

Great. Thanks very much for this info. I think I’m in for the Green Russian then. The demos I’ve heard have really sounded quite nice. And I hate to even make it a factor, but that pedal even LOOKS super cool.
In the case that anyone’s interested, I picked up a Green Russian and an Opamp. The Green Russian is definitely a distinctly different sound. I’m quite pleased to have all three to switch in and out.
Now on to the Big Muff with Tone & Wicker…let’s see how that one is.
In the end every Big Muff Pi from Mike is just a version up to the nerve of the time. At least there circuitry is similar. Slightly differences here and there.
The Bass Muff has a slightly changed tone filter.
The Reissue has differences in the coupling caps.
