I own several pedals. I wanted a Big Muff so I set out to find my desired muff (LoL) and I decided to go with the Russian BMP. I bought one at a pawn store (black with yellow writing) but when I got it home the volume only worked between 11-2 and it didn’t get very loud but I loved it’s sound. I rewired it every way I could fine and never could get it to work right. So I bought a new Russian BMP. I then opened it and rewired my older one just like the new one and it did the trick. Now I have two Russian BMPs so I decided to take the new one and mod it to Green Muff specs and add a tone wicker. I am officially in love with my two Russian muffs. I now use the older one on bass and the newer one with the mods is just sick! I’m going to post some clips soon!
You mean tone bypass as no one really knows what the wicker is(well, we do but…), meaning there’s no DIY info on the wicker.
What? There is a sheet for doing a tone wicker mod to the Russian and NYC BMP’s on the mods pages (it’s just a scooped/normal/flat mids switch).
Yeah i know, their my mods and I put them there and their for tone bypass and 3way tone control not wicker.
Oh ok! Thanks for clearing that up. I just assumed that’s what the tone wicker was!
Now you’ll have to buy a BMPTW! LOL
So what does the Tone Wicker do? or is it a mystery? I have too many pedals right now to buy any more. Two pedal boards with about 20 or so pedals and I don’t even have room for my hot tubes on there, it’s getting ridiculous!
To the best of my knowledge, it turns off high pass filters that eliminate some cross distortion. So turning it on works to boost your highs and gives it a nastier sound.
