I just bought an old Deluxe Big Muff from a friend, but it needs work. When you switch it on, coming out of either output, all you get is a humming with an octave-multiplexer/ring-mod tone that none of the knobs effect. Also, he said that the compressor section never worked as long as he had owned it. I touched up solder connections and nothing looks blown, but no improvements. Anyone know where I can send this to get it repaired? I’m pretty sure EHX won’t fix it since it isn’t a current model and hasn’t been for quite a while. Analogman? Maybe one of you folks can help me out.
EDIT: Well, I ended up sending it to Howard Davis. It was a little expensive, but completely worth it. Now it gets used every time I plug in. By far my favorite Muff, and I’ve owned quite a few.
you want to talk to Howard Davis – he designed that pedal

I take repairs on a case-by-case basis. I would take this one.
