I just got The Wiggler for my birthday; I’ve been wanting it forever and it’s just as incredible as I hoped – except it makes the most insane amount of excess noise! I’m worried about recording with it. I can always edit out some of the rumble it makes when I’m not playing, but we have very limited recording abilites. Occasionally, all three of the band members are playing in a recording and there is no one to operate the mixer and no way to edit out the noise because everything gets recorded to one track. In most cases, I can just record to a new track so that I can edit out the noise, but I would still like to find a fix if there is one. We thought it might go unnoticed during live performances, but it really is pretty loud.
I thought it might be related to the cables I’m using. Are there any types of cables that help with this issue without sacrificing tone?
I’ve owned 2 different Wigglers, and neither had any noise issues; so that isn’t normal.
Do you think I should contact EHX, since it’s under warranty?
Absolutely. I’ve had only great experiences with their customer support.
Have you already tried running your guitar direct into the Wiggler, then from the Wiggler direct to your amp? This will tell you if there are any issues with the other pedals running in series with the Wiggler.
Also, have you tried using different cables when connecting the Wiggler?
I don’t use any other pedals, so I’ve only set it up as guitar-pedal-amp. I’m going out to practice tonight. I’ll try some other cables. If that doesn’t work, I’ll get up with EHX.
Thanks!
