December 26, 2010 at 7:40 am #113312Fender&EHX4everModeratorQuote:I reverse engineered every effect to create a modular guitar effect system of just EH effects. The basic guts of each EH effect have been mounted to an aluminum chassis and then to a faceplate in a manner similar to MOOG and Buchla modulars. I made multi panels, input panels, mixer panels, and out panels of my own designs as well as one panel that is a master supply with various voltage taps. Each effect has a mechanical relay engage and disengage bypass. I used super high quality pots and jacks and added op amps to secure voltages were that would make an improvement. The panels are all one of two sizes and can slide in the custom cabinet rack in any order. It is a 1/4″ patching system.
That is amazing! Will you be touring with that rig? I would love to hear/see that in action!
Quote:I own pretty much everything EH made… I still need to find one more Solid State Reverb and Random Tone Generator to add to the system as I have several other effects which I use in multiples and would like to do the same with these. I would also love to find backups of my Echo 600 and Digital Delays units as they both got very hammered over the years and are becoming quite difficult to repair. I hope if anyone here is ever willing to sell any of those 4 units that they please let me know.Aside from EH Man (Ron), you are the only other person im aware of who has an Echo 600 and the Solid State Reverb. I’ve been hunting on eBay for years now, and I’ve never seen either listed. I would just love to actually hear them.

It was a very, very narrow shop (the thinnest I have ever seen). That’s were I purchased my Digital Delay and eventually a 16 second Delay. They were not cheap then and I remember the amount of my yearly income it required to get those was pretty high.Must’ve been like Wonkas Chocolate Factory with twice the psychedelics. Again, if i could go back in time….
Do you also use the newer EHX stuff released in the last 10 years, like the Flanger Hoax, or the HOG? Or just the pre 1983 stuff?
December 26, 2010 at 1:49 pm #113319g00dhonkMembervincent,
check out howard davis’ site, or send him an email; he’s the designer behind several of the original ehx pedals. he can probably repair/mod any of your stuff that has issues. he might even have some of the stuff you’re looking for.
he’s in NY.
December 27, 2010 at 4:03 pm #113342DiscoFreqParticipantI’m looking for a circuit of the Echo 600, I recently bought some empty cases of rare pedals including several EHX pedals:
December 27, 2010 at 4:53 pm #113343g00dhonkMember^ i remember seeing that on ebay; a very interesting purchase.
December 27, 2010 at 6:21 pm #113348vincentgalloMemberThose were all mine. I gave those to my friend Andre and i guess he sold them. Can i buy back the empty graphic eg? a member here needs it and i did not know Andre sold the set and that the empty eq was part of what i gave him. The Foxx tone machine empty is worth a good bit empty as that color green is highly desirable and easy swapped

Do you have technical documentation for the other pedals?
December 27, 2010 at 9:09 pm #113357DiscoFreqParticipantAnd BTW, I started a similar modular a few years ago, with effects and drum synths:
http://discofreq.muziq.be/modular/I have a 2nd cabinet since, with routing modules (loop switches), some Mu-Tron clones and interfaces for my vintage Vermona drumcomputers (from the DDR): those have 30-pin connectors with triggers in/outs (switchtable to either trigger the sounds from the Vermona or to trigger other stuff from the Vermona’s sequencer), audio outputs and some extra triggers from the Vermona: some programmable but not linked to internal sounds + some triggers on certain intervals (4th, 16th,…).
December 29, 2010 at 5:37 am #113394danieldangerParticipanti have an echo600, im not selling it, but if you ever start trying to get one together and i or it can be of help, drop me a line. i can take guts shots.
is that pulse modulator at all intact? i have some questions about it, as mine is acting a little strange and id like to do some visual comparing of the innards..
i would be interested in that or the attack decay case if youre looking to sell any off.
also, mr gallo, good to see you round these parts.

December 29, 2010 at 7:45 am #113397danieldangerParticipantbought mine in NYC last year sometime. pretty beat up, but works alright.
well, statement stands if youre looking to unload either of those at some point. cant hurt to have extra parts around.
January 4, 2011 at 11:59 pm #113514WatsonWoodMemberI have a dual speaker Freedom Amp, with reverb, and it packs a serious punch! However it is in sore need of basic circuit repair to reduce the dangerous-sounding hum it picks up after a couple of minutes on tap. I also played gigs with an MM Freedom Amp in the ’70s and found it great. There was an old Freedom amp for sale on eBay Germany or Switzerland a few days ago. It was in need of repair too, so I reckoned I should get mine running smoothly before taking on more.
January 5, 2011 at 5:21 am #113522JasBLUEMemberWow…so I randomly found out about a sweet amp and I get to post a reply to Vincent Gallo?!? Great to see we have similar tastes… I dig your work.
So you should probably check out what I’m about if you want. Our band Blue News is about to record at Retrophonics with Jim Devito (and I’ll play this amp I believe) and we’re mixing with Silvia Massy. No joke. It’s going down in Febuary-April 2011.Perhaps you’ll dig it…
http://bluenewsband.blogspot.com/2010/12/exciting-news.htmlIf you’re reading this forum then you probably have taste…so please let us know what you think?
Sincerely,
That One Dude
blah blah blahJanuary 5, 2011 at 5:41 am #113523JasBLUEMemberOh by the way my name is Brent and for all you fellow gear freaks I’m playing a Hofner semi-hollow electric and splitting the signal to 2 amps through a Pigtronix Disnortion pedal. One signal goes through my pedal board into a Blues Jr. and the other I’m currently running through the Amplitube app on my iPod into a PA. The sound is crazy sweet. I have a POG2 so I can send an effected guitar through one amp and a clean signal through another. I also sometimes use a loop station. This way I can loop a chord progression or riff on the fly and then have another sound instantly to play along. The sounds you can get are amazing and you can really push the boundaries of what’s possible. Anyway, I hope to get a 2nd amp before we play live again…maybe a Burgera or a Vox? I’m also considering getting the new Korg miniature analog synth that just came out and I’ll mount it to my guitar and run through an A/B switch. I also just ordered the Moen Effects Looper GEC434 which will let me switch between combinations of stompboxes and add a boost. It was a cool find so you might check it out. I’m excited about it but I’m somewhat of I’m a dork. Just thought I’d share.

Anyway, I’m always interested to hear what people are trying…
