Woohoo!!!!
Got one coming this week. It is the smaller version. Pretty excited though.
So, anyone who has one. Do you care to share some settings?
How you have it in your pedal chain?
What pedals go great with the Microsynth?
It would be cool if there were Microsynth templetes. Making, settings, easy to remember.Ming

EHX Micro Synthesizer SettingsGranted, the settings in these threads are for the old box, but it should get you in the ball park.
March 21, 2009 at 10:40 pm #94768MINGMemberThanks AGAIN.
We need an EHX “bat-signal”, for F&E.
March 22, 2009 at 1:04 am #94771BlueSteelParticipantI’m planning on buying a microsynth or a pog and im trying to see which one would be more useful for me, so can someone tell me if i can use the octave switch thing to make the guitar sound like a bass?

The Sub Octave on the Micro Synthesizer makes some really fat monophonic synth tones, but it’s not going to sound much like a bass guitar.

oh, ok thanks. i think i’ll just get the micro synth and then eventually the micro pog to get a bass sound.

March 26, 2009 at 12:26 pm #94924MINGMemberI thought mine sounded weak too. I was using a small amp to start off with. I didn’t feel too well yesterday. So, I didn’t mess with it much.
March 26, 2009 at 2:27 pm #94926Fender&EHX4everModeratorQuote:in my experience it has to be early, or first, in the signal chain.Agreed.
Another tip:
The Micro Synth often boosts the signal when using extreme settings. I usually place a compressor after it. If you place compression before it, it messes with the envelope sensitivity.
However, the Attack Delay feature seems to like compression in front. It helps to even out the triggering of that feature.
So the Micro Synthesizer benefits from having a compressor both before and after it, though not simultaneously, and depending on how you’re using it.
March 26, 2009 at 4:04 pm #94930MINGMemberWhere do you guys set the preamp’s internal trimmer? I use a variety of pups. So far, I’ve only been using SC, so I did 100% CW.
March 26, 2009 at 4:37 pm #94935MINGMemberI got mine used, so I’m wondering where stock would be. Where I have mine set, I like it. I’m just curious.
March 26, 2009 at 6:33 pm #94940Fender&EHX4everModeratorMing, do you have a good looper? My recommendation would be to record a short loop (representative of your playing style of course, and include some dynamics for variation), then feed the loop into the Micro Synth at the same gain level you recorded at. Adjust the trimpot as you listen to the playback though the Micro Synth and optimize it with the Trigger slider set to about 75%.

I see them on eBay all the time. http://instruments.shop.ebay.com/items/?_nkw=micro+synthesizer+harmonix+-xo&_sacat=619&_trksid=p3286.m270.l1313&_sop=10&LH_PrefLoc=2&_dmpt=Guitar_Accessories&_odkw=micro+synthesizer&_osacat=619
There’s a Bass one here as well: http://www.parkwaymusic.com/effects/effects_used_vintage.shtml
