I have a new little big muff and the case becomes microphonics when it is on, even at moderate settings. Should I send it back for repairs?
Or is this something that is inherent in the new little big muff?
Microphonics implies it’s picking up noise from elsewhere. Is it just making noises when bumped or stepped on?
Maybe I’m using the wrong term, but yes, it makes noise when it is stepped on, or, bumped. If you tap on it it acts like a microphone amplifying the tap.
My guess would be that there is a bad solder joint somewhere. Take the back off and poke gently at the larger components and solder connections with a plastic or wood stick while it’s plugged in. You will probably find the culprit.
Thanks, I’ll check that out.
Update: Yep, that’s what it was . Loose solder joints on a couple of the large capacitors. Thanks for the tip!
If it’s new… take it back and as for a substitution.
