currently i run a rig with pretty good results:

(acoustic guitar) stereo microphone pair > preamp > 2880

i was just wondering if it would be possible to introduce a stereo memory man between the preamp and the 2880…

(acoustic guitar) stereo microphone pair > preamp > stereo memory man > 2880

and if so, would there be sound sacrifices by doing it?

i would like to have the ability to have echo as well as an additional looper in front of the 2880 further increasing the sound vocabulary of the setup

    specifics of the setup

    mics: oktava mk-012’s
preamp: art dual pre (2 channels, with two 1/4″ outs)

    _

    thanks in advance /d

i’ll answer my own question incase anyone else is curious in the future

preliminary results are very good – the sound coming through is more than acceptable when recording guitar — even other ambient sounds as well

i’ll try to post again when i have had more detailed experience with the setup

so far i have been really happy with the setup — except for a couple of issues such as:

    1. no stereo dry out — the 2880 squashes incoming stereo signal into mono before sending it out as your dry signal… https://www.ehx.com/forums/viewthread/946/

    2. the stereo memory man i have seems to always have attenuation when overdubbing … https://www.ehx.com/forums/viewthread/950/

I saw your other post too. There’s no reason for this, you may have a bum pedal. Assuming its still under warranty you maybe should return it to where you got it for a different one.

did exactly that, just wanted to make sure i wasn’t missing something before i did so… all is well now!

The Haz is awesome though. I don’t have a 2880, I just wish I did.

no doubt, i love the haz — i have been using it a lot on its own as a streamlined setup (binaural condensers into the hazarai) i actually prefer the recording only when stomping on the box for shorter (<30sec) loops -- i wish one of the footswitches on the 2880 would replicate this method for recording (especially for punching in/out)

however, the hazarai is killer in combination with the 2880 (at least for me it acts kinds of like a hub, combining acoustic instruments, loops + effects) i now essentially have two different pipes that come together at the haz — one being a condenser microphone->preamp->volume->smmwh and the other being humbucker->volume->effects->smmwh

from the hazarai they go into the 2880 and then sometimes even a powerbook for further live manipulation

    Killer. Put some tracks up.

sure thing, here are some recent sound improvisations using mainly acoustic guitar:
