Does anybody have any experience or advice on adjusting the internal gain of the micro synth for violin?

I love the way this thing sounds on my guitar, but I need it mostly for violin and it isn’t working very well as it stands. I thought I might try to adjust it as described in the manual, but I don’t know if it will make a difference and I don’t want to run the risk of damaging it for no reason.
