Hi all, I’m a proud owner of a Q-tron and an LPB-1. I live in Korea; recently during a trip to Singapore I purchased a new Micro POG. It sounded great and was working fine while I was in Singapore and using the power supply that came with it.
However….(uh oh)….when I came back to Korea, I didn’t have the right wall adapter for the plug so I set the pedal aside until I got one. One day when I came home my brother–bless him–told me he wanted to mess around with it, so tried using my Artec Power Brick to power the mPOG (noooo!), and after a few seconds, it clicked and popped and sputtered out. He said “that’s strange,” tried a different jack, and got the same result.
The next day I went out and got an outlet adapter so I could use the 200 mA power adapter that came with the pedal. Now when I step on the pedal, it turns on and stays on, but produces a strange and interesting sound….but not musical. More like a helicopter….underwater…..or something. Not good.
Because I was on holiday I didn’t send in the warranty registration card ten days within purchase.
Opened it up and it looked ok, not that I really know what I’m looking at, but nothing was melted or fried that I could see. So I wonder: 1) Is it totally shot? or, 2) Is this problem fixable, for example is it a matter of replacing the power jack on the pedal?
Hopefully it’s the latter, otherwise I now own an expensive piece of junk.
PS: voltage in Korea is 220 Volts at 60 Hertz, Singapore is 230 Volts at 50 Hertz.
Thanks for any input, rock on!
Well since you bought it new, you should be able to get it repaired under warranty. Email info@ehx.com about it and they’ll get you sorted out
I’m pretty sure the micro POG should work fine with a power brick, except it may require a higher ampage than the power brick’s outputs provide – to me, that sounds like exactly what happened, but i don’t think it can cause damage to the pedal.
As for the mains converter, i’m not sure.
Have you tried running the pedal with a 9v Battery?
Thanks for the address Julian, I’ll send an e-mail. However like I said I didn’t send in the warranty card 10 days after purchase, so we’ll see.
Dr. Matt, unfortunately the mPOG doesn’t use batteries.
 i knew there was something wrong with my post
