I’m comparing the 2880 to other similar units like the Boss RC50. I certainly prefer the 2880 from what I’ve seen so far, except for one point – the RC50 has an XLR in, whereas the 2880 is jack only. So, how does it work to feed a mic to a 2880? Do you have to (or is it recommended to) use a mic preamp on the way in?
Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide.

I use an XLR to 1/4″ adapter. You can check them out here:
The mic Pre would be recommended if you have a phantom powered condenser mic. In that case you need a phantom power supplied mic pre…. many to choose from, the ART Tube MP’s are fine on a budget. If not, you can just plug straight in and adjust input gain to before clipping levels.
Thanks for the quick reply. Actually, I have plenty of leads already that go from xlr at the mic end to jack at the other end. I just wanted to check that the levels would work out OK from a mic. Sounds like they will be – so I think that’s my major concern about the 2880 allayed.
Cheers

I run my guitar in 1 and a Shure mic into 2 – works great. Lack of XLR not a biggy, and the sound quality of the 2880 is FAR supirior to the RC-50 (I’ve owned/own both).
Hello,
I m newbie. The info sounds good. Well guys…mic input to 2880 is very cool if you want to do multitrack manipulation/performance, but very expensive and not as much foot control as you would think.
Cheer up!!!!

Yeah….i use 2880 and no complaint at all. Thanks for such a useful info.
keep sharing guys…….
It’s an old thread I know but I just got the 45000 and ran into issues plugging a SM 58 into the pedal with a simple XLR/jack adapter.
I was wondering if you used an impedance transformer adapter to to match the impedance.
