I recently went on a trip to the USA and on my visit there, purchased a Metal Muff w/ Top Boost for $99 which is significantly cheaper than paying $350 for one back here in Australia. Anyway, it’s been absolutely awesome up until about 2 weeks ago when it just stopped working. I had had it for about 2 months.

The problem itself is that when I plug it in, I get no sound out of my amp whatsoever through the clean channel and when I kick it on, it’s incredibly weak and what you would get from volume 1 (even when everything’s maxed out).

I think it’s because I used a positive center Power Adapter when the Metal Muff is Negative centered. Would EHX fix my pedal if that was the case and am I still under warranty?

And one last thing, I purchased it from the USA and now live in Australia but still have the receipt.

    Admins, help me out?

i cant speak for ehx as im not an employee, but i will say this: try playing it with a fresh battery to see if you roasted the whole thing or just the AC adaptor section.

when you play it now, are you still using the positive center adaptor? see if you can get it to work just by using a negative center.

using the wrong adaptor is potentially fatal to pedals and if youve been doing it for two months i would imagine its probably too late, the manual explicitly warns against doing that.

Nope, I’ve already tried playing with just a battery and that didn’t work either.

Guess I might have to buy a new one :(

    um, are you serious?

Yes that’s almost certainly why it isn’t working anymore.

No, I doubt EHX would cover ‘self inflicted wrong power supply usage’ under it’s warranty.
