Hi!
I was checking inside my Memory Man XO from the early 2010s and I noticed something odd about the MN3008 chips inside. One of the chips has the little indented circle on the right side of the chip instead of the left like the other three. I remembered EHX had a problem with fake MN3005 years ago. As I recall MN3008 chips were relabelled as MN3005 chips. Could something like this have happened with MN3008 ICs? The pedal works fine, so I’m wondering if these MN3008 chips were resurfaced for some reason? If fake, what chip could they be? Or is this just a normal variation in manufacturing? Any ideas? I’ve included a picture.
Thanks!

Thanks! I’ll try again. I tried writing to that e-mail address before about a different question but never got a response.
Sorry you may have gone in spam…
If you do not hear write again and i will make sure they see this.
They responded with this statement.
“We don’t know why the circle is in a different location on that one chip. We have not had problems with fake MN3008 chips in our stock. The quality of the NOS MN3008 chips has been very consistent.”
So, I guess it’s a mystery. I must have a very “rare” MN3008 chip then! Every other MN3008 chip I’ve seen online and in person has had the circle on the other side.
