Hi, i need some guidance because my Memory Man Deluxe pedal does not (always) process the sound when turned on.
The story beguines when I borrowed the pedal to a singer who modulated the sound from his microphone in the studio. The settings where experimentally used in extreme ways and finally it froze in an extreme state where the overload led rapidly blinked and the sound just was like an enormous engine room. I could only turn it off by unplugging the adapter.
After this, it did not process the sound anymore. When turned on, the led lits but nothing happens. Without success figuring out what went wrong, I left it laying around for several years (5-6 years).
Recently i decided to test it again. It actually worked that first time but not the second or third. The pedal is totally unreliable as it works only 1 in 15 times or worse and it seems tired somehow.
I have tried to test it in several states of temperature, settings (no extreme preamp setting) and ways to push the on switch (as if it was glitching). These thing always happen; the led turn on and there is a small “pop” making the red overdrive led to blink. And once in a while I get lucky but mostly nothing. The settings no matter what will not affect the sound.
It might be some more behaviors, i need to test it once again. Don´t remember if it was bypassing the sound when turned on or not.
I don’t use any effect between the guitar and the amp except for the Memory Man Deluxe. I have always used the original adapter that went with the box.
My own thoughts: The preamp seems sensitive and i dare not push it as it feels like this affect the ability to turn it on once a gain. The effect seems more mellow and not as aggressive as when i bought it, like “old and tired”.
As said – I need guidance, can you help me?
Greetings from Sweden!

August 14, 2010 at 3:06 pm #110872InSane.appMemberSo finally I have managed to get all my equipment together.
This time the pedal worked from start but when i changed from Vibrato to Chorus (switch at the top) it went off so i tapped it on its right side gently then a bit harder. After 6-9 quite hard taps at the same place, it went on again. Each time I tapped it the red LED faintly flashed. Needless to say is that the pedal almost moved then i tapped the hardest, so i didn’t like throw it cross the room or something.
Does this mean the pedal might have a bad solder joint? If so, can i fix this joint myself (i know how to solder but not locating the bad joint)?
