    greetings, all.

so i just got a pretty nice DMM off of craigslist & i’d like to see if someone could help me date it. the pedal sounds incredible, looks perfect, i have no complaints. i’m just a little curious.

it’s a 5 knob DMM with a built in power supply. it came in a wooden box with 3 pieces of a kind of pleather padding on the insides of the box. i feel the need to say that it’s in absolutely perfect condition. apparently, this guy bought it used a boutique used gear place in minneapolis about a year ago. they had gotten it from a guy who was just a pedal collector & had bought this one at some point, put it in a drawer & never touched it. the guy i bought it from also pretty much never touched it, so the finish is just nearly perfect. even the box is in great shape. and again, the sound is just awesome. it is a little noisy (which i’ve heard is due to the internal power supply), but it’s not too bad. plus, all it takes it touching the strings for that hiss to go away.

so i kind of figured that the built in power supply & wooden box meant that it must be from the early 80s. but here’s the rub – the literature inside the box is making me wonder. it still has the unused warranty card, operating instructions, & an ehx kind of mini catalog of other pedals. for starters, the instructions, which specify that they’re for the DMM, mention the possibility of the unit having a built in power supply or an external adaptor. it also says to mail returns to ehx, c/o new sensor corporation.

also, the warranty card lists the website as http://www.sovtek.com, but the catalog lists the website as ehx.com.

is it possible that this literature stuff was put into this box afterwards, i guess? i mean, if the pedal is from the 80s there’s no way he literature would have websites listed.

    any help would be apprecaited.

    thanks & take care.

If it has a 3-prong AC cord, it’s not from the late ’80s. It’s an early reissue.

    hey eh man –

thanks for your response. something i forgot to mention in my original post, not sure if it matters, is that the pots all have those little points on them.

when you say it’s an early reissue, you’re talking early 90’s, is that correct?

    thanks again.

Probably more like mid 90s. Early reissues did use the pointer knobs, which I actually prefer.

    Hello,

I found lots of infos that help dating our favourite boxes (Big Muff, Mistress, etc…) but nothing really accurate on DMM…
So my question is about a PCB #EH 7850 C… how old could it be ? I would prefer not to unscrew everything to read what’s written on the pots.

    By the way, It’s a Echo/chorus/vibrato with 5 knobs.

    Thanks a lot.
    Raphael.

P.S. : if anyone knows a site about (Deluxe) Memory man like “kitrae” for Muffs, Ralf Metzger for Mistress…

W/o opening it up: late 70s/early80s.

    Merci :-)

I wondered if “C” standed for a later revision (re-issue).

No, a reissue’s PCB # would start with EC, not EH.
