Setup: POG as the first pedal in a typical pedal board chain of effects, going into my Orange half stack.
Symptoms:
1. loud popping noise, akin to the sound when you unplug something without muting a channel on a PA, when the plug of the power supply, the end where it goes into the POG, is jiggled, even slightly, which subsequently erratically shuts all sound off for a few seconds at least (light flickers off when popping sound happens and sound goes out)….
2. turning POG on and off with foot-switch button, also sometimes makes a (more subdued) popping noise, light sometimes comes on, sometimes doesn’t, sound is sometimes full, sometimes half, and sometimes completely dead. this dead or half dead sound also happens when the effect is off.
Solution that didn’t work: I thought I had a bad power supply so I ordered a new one, the same electro harmonix power supply. It didn’t solve the problem, and after a couple more weeks the symptoms above became so consistently unpredictable that I had to take the pedal out of my setup.
does anybody have any idea what’s up with the pedal? is my POG dead??
thanks,
Adam
My guess is that the power jack either needs to be re-soldered or replaced. It would cause all the symptoms you described.
thanks Ron, I just called EH and they seemed to agree and said it is fixable for a reasonable price so, that sounds optimistic. fortunately I have a pretty good gap between shows right now to send it in so I’m happy about that.
