Little Big Muff sound is between the NYC and Russian. Wasn’t supposed to be straight up NYC sound.

It’s not the size of the muff, it’s how you use it….

I read somewhere on an EHX blog, website or something like that that the LBM was supposed to sound similar to the ramshead muff. I don’t know if it does because I don’t own a ramshead muff.

Now I must ask…how is it on bass? :p

The Big Muff with Tone Wicker is great on bass. With tone control being bypassed it is a powerful sound.

For me, I love the Bass Big Muff. All of the Muff sound with a serious and tight low end.

Yet the unique aspect of all of the Muffs is that they stay true to the sound but each has its
own character. Some evolved into bass favorites but some were designed knowing what bass players want to hear.

I do love the Wicker though.

I always read that the LBM was supposed to be exactly the same as the NYC muff but in a smaller package
    thus i was dissapointed

I like the Little Big Muff’s tighter more aggressive sound better

The Lil Muff is a lot tighter in that sense. There is a more concetrated drive I think on this unit. It still delivers and it takes less space on the floor.

will the wicker switch allow it to get as nasty sounding as the swollen pickle?

It’s got the fuzz for sure and it will get nasty. I have an original Swollen Pickle and that thing is pretty nasty. They are similar and different at the same time. The Wicker switch really gives it a bite rather than a roar like the pickle.

yeah I was watching the Swollen Pickle Mk2 PGS video and I thought to myself “this doesn’t sound all that much like a muff to me, but it does sound pretty cool never the less”

Maybe after I get the Bass Big Muff and the Tone Wicker Muff, I’ll find a used MK2 somewhere

Pound For Pound, you get more sound for the buck with Electro Harmonix. EHX pedals are priced nicely where anyone can buy them and sound great.

Very true. From what I’ve heard I think my Little Big Muff sounds better than the Swollen Pickle.

But at the same time there’s the part of me that would love to make a board with 10 different big muff variations on it.

That’s why I chose FUZZ for my forum name. I have a large personal collection of Fuzz Pedals and Devices. I have been doing this for a long time and different recording sessions brought on new ideas and duties, thus the large collection. Sometime in your life and every ones life, you need to have 1 of each Muff, not because I work here, but for the money, used or new, you can get a great sound for a few dollars. Each is different and each inspires you to try something different. You should never get bored playing guitar. These are devices that fuel inspiration….. So rock on!
